Some people unwind with a spa day. Others? They head straight for a bungy jump.

Welcome to WildPlay Nanaimo, South Nanaimo’s go-to for high-flying, heart-racing, slightly out-of-your-comfort-zone fun. From ziplines and adventure courses to primal swings and axe throwing, it’s basically adrenaline on demand.

As part of our Nanaimo Business Feature Series, we’re chatting with local businesses to hear their stories, what keeps them here, and how you can support them.

What inspired you to start your business in Nanaimo?

Nanaimo is the perfect intersection of natural beauty and ease of access. Being able to welcome people to the Nanaimo River and the surrounding forest is a wonderful experience for our team. It reminds us not to take the environment for granted.

Are there any positive specific customer stories or interactions that stand out to you that have taken place over the years?

Being able to watch adults play like they are kids again is always a wonderful experience. It is too rare that people get to let go and just play. Being able to swing through the trees is something that helps people let go and have fun. When generations of families get to participate together, it is always a special time.

What are some of your favourite Nanaimo businesses?

I'm a foodie at heart, so all of the great local restaurants come to mind. As well as all of the great community hangouts. One of the reasons Nanaimo is so wonderful is that there are so many great businesses that all work together to create community.

How do you see your business contributing to the community in Nanaimo?

One of our Core Values is "Share the Fruit", we strongly believe in giving back and returning value to the community wherever we can. We do this by donating passes and hosting charitable events where we can. Annually, we help raise upwards of $150,000 for Island charities and donate around $15,000 in passes for local organizations.

What do you love most about being a part of the Nanaimo business community?

Nanaimo is home. Being able to add value to the community is any way is fulfilling. I love this community, and I hope it comes across in how we do business.

At WildPlay Nanaimo, it’s not just about the adrenaline, it’s about the moments that come with it.

The laughter mid-zipline, the “did I really just do that?” at the bottom of a bungy jump, and the kind of memories that stick long after your feet are back on the ground.
