Gabriola’s 28th Annual Thanksgiving Studio Tour
For the past 28 years, Gabriola Island has proudly hosted the Thanksgiving Studio Tour, one of the largest studio tours in the Pacific Northwest.
This annual event gives visitors the chance to explore the personal studios of over 45 local artists, including painters, sculptors, craftsmen, jewellers, potters, and more. It’s your chance to get up close and personal with the island’s creative magic. No wonder Gabriola’s dubbed the “Isle of the Arts!
With over 1,500 visits to studios across the island, this is an event you won’t want to miss.

From photographers and printmakers to woodworkers, furniture crafters, resin artists and upcyclers, Gabriola’s Thanksgiving Studio Tour offers no shortage of inspiring and influential creativity.
Kick off your artistic adventure at Tour Central in downtown Gabriola, snag a Map of Gabriola Artists, and dive into your own personalized art journey. Check out Gabriola-inspired fine paintings by Melinda Wilde. Craving something with a twist? Tyrrell Clarke’s abstract pieces will have you pondering life’s mysteries.
Feeling inspired? Swing by Rising Stone Studio and witness the magic of stone, wood, glass, and resin sculptures by Stephen Cole. Or pop into the Mad Mudslinger for some wood-fired stoneware, fabulous functional pottery—because who says art can’t be useful?—and much more.

‘The Isle of the Arts’ is just a quick 20-minute ferry ride from Nanaimo’s downtown, making it the perfect place to spend a day or few exploring natural wonders and visiting the local artisans they inspire.
Start your day with the short ferry ride from downtown Nanaimo to Gabriola. The ferry departs multiple times per day and transports vehicles and foot passengers.
Arriving on foot? Gabriola’s GERTIE community bus runs on schedule 6 days per week servicing the entire island including pick-ups and drop-offs at the ferry terminal.
Planning to stay overnight? Gabriola offers a variety of accommodations, from cozy resorts to tranquil campgrounds. Check out Surf Lodge and Pub, Hummingbird Lodge Bed & Breakfast, or Page’s Inn on Silva Bay.
