The Abyss and Extension Ridge Trail

Extension Ridge Trail Loop is an 9.2 km moderately rated loop trail that features a rocky and forested setting. Approximately 1km into the trail is what locals call ‘The Abyss’, a 50cm wide fissure that is fascinating evidence of the earth’s power to reshape itself. Although this is a popular attraction there is a risk of falling into the gap, so keep small children and dogs close.
