The Longwood Brew Pub and Restaurant anchors the attractive Longwood Station, a unique village-style neighbourhood shopping centre. Situated in North Nanaimo, it is a very accessible spot to stop in for a delicious meal and a refreshing drink in an inviting dark wood and brass pub atmosphere.

When it comes to barrier free design, no detail has been left out starting with the accessible parking spaces with lowered curbs. There is an accessible parking spot very close to the restaurant, and on the lower level, another designated parking space for the pub. For wheelchair users, the entrance to the pub is accessed via a sloping sidewalk to a door with a door bell.

To enter the restaurant there is an automatic push plate door opener and once inside, there are easily moveable tables and chairs to accommodate mobility devices. The large, accessible bathroom has a universal height toilet with grab bars. The countertop/sink is at the appropriate height for wheelchair users, as is the paper towel dispenser.  There is a baby change table in the bathroom, as the upper restaurant area is family-friendly.

It’s worth taking a moment to mention the excellent service provided at this establishment, as both the wait staff and bartenders are welcoming and super friendly, and have made a great effort to make their establishment inclusive for their patrons.
