Concerts in the Park

The City of Nanaimo's Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture is pleased to announce the schedule for the 2024 Concerts in the Park series. The free concerts showcase local talent against the backdrop of some of Nanaimo's most beautiful parks. Concert-goers will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of music genres, including motown, indie rock, folk/blues, and celtic. Audience members are reminded to bring a chair or a blanket and to dress for the weather. New this year are a number of double or triple feature shows which will allow families to enjoy a variety of entertainment along with a picnic or dinner in the park! Coco Love Alcorn In Concert

Recently awarded the 2021 Canadian Folk Music Award for Best Contemporary Singer Of The Year, Coco Love Alcorn combines diverse musical influences including jazz, R&B, pop, folk, and Gospel. Her love of improvising, and willingness to engage fearlessly with the audience has made Alcorn an established presence on the Canadian music scene. Alcorn’s career has spanned more than 30 years, 9 solo albums, many cross-Canada tours, collaborations, festival appearances, and award nominations. Her original songs have been used widely in TV and film and also sung by choirs around the world. Coco also leads the Wonderland Singers, an online community choir and creative singing workshop series with hundreds of regular members from across Canada, the States and beyond. Presented by local song leader Sylvia Humble (founder of Sing Again community choir) If you love to sing, come to the earlier workshop too, and join Coco Love Alcorn for an afternoon of playful and soulful singing.
