The Nanaimo Dragon Boat Centre is kicking off the paddling season with a free Open House on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Everyone is invited to meet at the Harbour Air Terminal on the Nanaimo Waterfront to experience the thrill of dragon boating and learn how to get involved.

Led by Head Coach Holly Wylie, the Open House is an ideal opportunity for new paddlers to try the sport, meet current team members, and find out how to join a crew. All equipment is provided, and no previous experience is needed—just wear comfortable clothes and shoes that can get wet.

This Open House marks the beginning of a dynamic season filled with fun, festivals, fitness, friendship—and the joy of being on the water in one of British Columbia’s most beautiful and vibrant settings.

The Nanaimo Dragon Boat Centre is also the proud co-host of the Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival, returning to Maffeo Sutton Park on July 12–13, 2025. The Centre is actively welcoming new paddlers and volunteers to be part of the energy and community that surrounds this iconic event.
