May 24 @ 6:00 pm – May 25 @ 4:30 pm
The Nanaimo Ukulele Festival is thrilled to present our 2024 festival on Friday, May 24 and Saturday, May 25 at the Beban Park Recreation Centre in Nanaimo, B.C.
Join us on Friday evening for a rousing-good-time concert featuring a well know Canadian ukulele duo, Transit Lounge, featuring Cynthia Kinnunen on uke and Ben Coulson on u-bass. With a love of everything from rockabilly to old-time tunes, pop, folk and some trusty rock & roll for good measure they are sure to entertain. Also featured at the concert is Vancouver Island’s own Sylvia Humble, a singer songwriter with a passion for bringing people together through song.
On Saturday we will be offering a number of Workshops for all levels of Ukulele Players, with instructors Cynthia Kinnunen, Ali Romanow, Liz DeBarros and Carol Johns.
Cynthia Kinnunen [www.cynthiakmusic.com] will be offering a whole day orchestra workshop. By the days end you will have the experience of being part of a ukulele ensemble.
Ali Romanow [http://www.aliromanow.com/] from up Island in the Comox Valley, Ali is a music educator, performer and composer who will be teaching the beginner ukulele workshops on Saturday. If you are interested in learning to play the ukulele, Ali will get you off to a good start.
