Sponsored by the Vancouver Island Vintage Dance Society (BC) the concert is performed by a Quartet playing in the style of a small Salon Orchestra by a Clarinet Violin Piano and Bass., and guest artitsts. Standard vintage dance music from the Salon Orchestra has been selected from a wide range of dance styles – from Folk to Mozart Beethoven Schubert Josef Strauss and many more. The dance music has been selected because they represent an historical importance in the development of social partner dancing.
There will be five short pieces that are original compositions by Gordon Pascoe.
The Quartet will be joined by Guest Artists:-
Two numbers will include a Celtic Harp played by Joseph Clemotter a very talented young Nanaimo harpist.
The baritone vocals will be sung by Frankie Bouchier a baritone recently moved to Nanaimo from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Sydney Australia..
Elise Boulanger (Soprano) hails from Nanaimo on the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw. After receiving her Diploma in Classical Vocal Performance from the Victoria Conservatory of Music Boulanger began focusing on composing. Well-known for her Indie-Folk project ‘Elise Boulanger’ she has been deemed as “definitely one to watch” by the Times Colonist. Her EP ‘The Blooming’ was released in 2022. She has received radio play on CBC toured Western Canada performed at The Port Theatre and opened for Carmanah.The soprano will be sung by Elise Boulanger .
