Nanaimo is making significant investments to create more accessible spaces for people
with diverse abilities. In 2022, a major renovation to Maffeo Sutton Park was completed which included a fully accessible playground and wider paths for all ages and abilities.

The City of Nanaimo has also made significant inclusivity-focused upgrades to parks and trails at Bowen Park and Westwood Lake Park. future improvements are also planned for Departure Bay.

The City is committed to improving accessibility for all by identifying, removing and preventing barriers that limit access to services and amenities to people of all ages, abilities and walks of life.
