Nanaimo's two major commercial centres are downtown and the north end. These districts offer the city's greatest variety of retail and service destinations, but there are also dozens of smaller developments along the highway, including North Nanaimo Town Centre, Southgate Plaza, Brooks Landing, and Terminal Park. Other important districts include Departure Bay and Harewood, located east and west of Highway 19, respectively.
