ISLANDS OFF SIDNEY CRUISE
The waters near Sidney are famous for both their natural beauty and their rich nautical history. Join expert guide and retired oceanographer Captain Brian Smiley, as we embark on a cruise exploring Gulf Islands National Park and the surrounding coastline.
Bring your cameras and binoculars because you might capture up-close views of active harbour seals and their pups, feeding bald eagles, and foraging seabirds of all kinds including: pigeon guillemots, rhinoceros auklets and turkey vultures. A stunning pantheon of vibrant life all back dropped by protected ancient first-growth forests.
We’ll also make a short stop at Dock Island, a renowned natural dry dock for tall ships (and pirates) over the centuries. A clear day will provide a view of Mount Baker, our looming active volcanic neighbour. The ecologist guides are experts at local storytelling about natural and cultural history. The solarium-dome and soft sofas of the vessels offer personalized attention and guaranteed comfort for participants of all ages.
